Thorin Oakenshield

Hey everyone,

This is my entry for the December contest on the Gnomonworkshop.com forums. I saw the character design for the new Hobbit movie and I can't say that I like it. Some of the dwarves don't look like dwarves. So I decided to go with a more traditional approach. I will post the work in progress for this soon. Hope you like it.

Sketch Theatre - Wizard

Hey everyone,

Here is my take on the topic for the December challenge at sketchtheatre.com forums. The topic was wizard. I did this sketch in graphite. It had been a while since I did a sketch in graphite. It was hard to commit and make decisions because of the eraser. I have been sketching in ink which obligates me to commit and make "better marks" because of the margin of error. Anyway, hope you like it.

PoseBook by Silver

Hey everyone,

This is a sketch I did this morning as I saw one of the videos from the PoseBook Female app I got this morning. This is an app created by Stephen Silver. He is a character designer and all round awesome artist who took the time to compile loads of photos of men and women in different outfits and in an assortment of different poses. It also has video tutorials and galleries from different artists. Make sure you get both apps (Male and Female) because they have different videos with tips on how to become a better artist. Search for it at the App Store. Hope you like it.

Vector Superhero Mashup 3

Hey everyone,

Here are more vector portraits that I've done. I've been enjoying doing these because I've gotten the flow of how to work the best. I take my own reference pics and I don't waste time looking for any online. Sometimes the reference pic of the subject is not the best but you do the best with what you have. Hope you like them.
